Fascino d’Altri Tempi

Fascino d'Altri Tempi

Did you know that last year I had the great opportunity to compose and record the music for a Short Movie that also won a prize for the best soundtrack?

The film is “Fascino d’Altri Tempi“, directed by Andrea Natale, which tells about traditions and superstitions of Southern Italy, sometimes in a dark/horror accent. Creating the music and the sound design has been really funny! (At the bottom of the page you can find a short video where I show how I realized all the sound effects and the melodies, together with the trailer!)

The movie talks about two young sisters who left their home in the big city where they live to visit their grandmother in a small town who asked for their help because she was sure that she was victim of a spell called “affascino“: so the adventure starts and they will look for an ancient cure.

I let now speak the director Andrea Natale, so he’ll tell us how this opera was conceived:

“The Short Movie is a mix of different genres, from the comedy to the drama, almost Horror. The direction style reflects this tendency, changing from a more classical setting to a sperimental approach.

The Narrative develops in a world full of superstitions that endures over the modern, cinic world. At the centre of the story there are womens: strong and united characters, who sometimes behave like a collecitve identity.

The Cinematography is pretty neutral at the beginning, becoming more and more saturated as the tension encreases. The rhytm of the story creates a suspence until reaching a climax in the scene inside the church.

The Soundtrack intertwines with the sounds of the Nature, giving voice to the feelings, the nightmares and the fears of the characters.

The Short Movie is a multi-award-winning prize film in many international festival, like:
